A technician in safety glasses and gloves assembling electronics on a factory floor

Manufacturing safety software: The baler, the press, the forklift. Each one gets its own check on the floor.

PortalBase ties inspections to the machine's QR code, training to the person and handovers to the area. Operators on a shared tablet, techs on a personal phone, line leads on the web. Everyone sees the same open items.

The real screens

The machine walk, filled out on the floor.

The operator walks each machine in the department, answers the check and writes down the hour meter. It saves on the phone with no signal and sends when it can.

Who can run which machine, on one screen.

Forklift, overhead crane, lockout, welder and respirator cards. See who holds each, who expires within 30 days and who has run out.

Give a task, form or inspection to a person, a crew or a role. What's open, what's waiting for review and who isn't current sits on one screen.

On the floor

Where the signal dies

01

Metal buildings. Steel and concrete block the signal in parts of the plant. The checklist is on the phone.

02

Cold storage and mezzanines. Records save where the work happens and upload from wherever there's signal.

03

The break room tablet. A shared tablet signs workers in by PIN or QR badge. The next operator starts clean.

Shift change

First shift to second shift

Without it

A text from the line lead, maybe. The press ran hot and nobody's sure when.

With a log per area

Each press line has its own log and its own handover. Notes, photos and readings go in all shift, even offline. Open items are tasks in the area's pool, so the whole crew sees the same list.

Who's who

The people on one floor

  • Operators. Four tiles: Tasks, Training, Inspections, Report an issue. The admin decides which tiles each user type gets.
  • Maintenance techs. Cover several plants, with a role at each. Repairs are items with an owner, notes, photos and a closing sign-off.
  • Line leads and EHS. Line leads review failures and concerns first. The safety lead sees by plant, area and shift what's open and for how long.

Straight answers

Can a plant have its own fields, like headcount or hours worked?
Yes. Each level a company defines can carry its own fields. A plant can have a headcount and hours worked, for example.
Can workers report a near miss without giving their name?
Yes, with an anonymous form. It collects no identity and no device ID. The word is literally true.
Does it replace the lockout training done on the machine?
No. Courses and skill checks record what was taught and shown. The hands-on training still happens on the machine, in person.
